ShuR was founded in 2008 by students of Keio University at the time. With a mission to create an equal society for the Deaf and the hearing, the company offers various IT-oriented services, such as remote interpretation, sign language keyboard, and travel guide application for smartphones and tablets, aimed to help the Deaf improve their quality of life and participate in society more actively. They have received sixteen awards including the Good Design Award, and the Co-founder, Junto Ohki, became the only Japanese selected for Forbes 30Under30 for social entrepreneurs in 2012.
