Tomoya Ishida, Director
Born on June 7, 1967, Ishida leaned filmmaking at ESRA Film School in Paris, France and worked for a television production company after returning to Japan. With abundant experience, he started directing independently, using his language skills and eye for cinematography. He has been a part of many projects including documentary programs by NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation), foreign film productions, and international collaboration projects.

In 2005, Ishida released his first film, “Mikio Naruse: Memories on Set,” a documentary created for the 100th anniversary of the film director, Mikio Naruse’s birth, with Keiju Kobayashi, Yoko Tsukasa, Chikage Awashima, Mitsuko Kusabue, and other well-known Japanese actors and actresses. The production took 3 years in total. The film is currently broadcast on NHK BS2.
