Hello. I'm Makoto Otaka.
The founder of Aikido moved from Tokyo to Iwama in 1942, and spent his days for farming, training, and meditation until he died in 1969.
Farmwork grows rice and vegetables that are the source of life.
Martial arts hone your skills to protect yourself in case of an emergency.
Both were said to be "preparation" for living, so the founder said "Bu-Nou Ichinyo, or martial arts and farmwork as one".
Inheriting that spirit, Hitohira Saito Soke also spends many days for farming, training, and meditation.
He appreciates the blessings of nature, strengthens the mind and body, and prays to God.
He embodies the spirit of "Bu-Nou Ichinyo" as well as the techniques which the founder left in Iwama.
The economical weakness is now being revealed by the coronavirus rage.
Now, I realize that self-sufficient living through farmwork can be relied upon.
