Let's make a hometown to live with horses in Tono, Iwate, the town of fairy tales! Let's build a guest house made of "Bahan-moku".

What's this Challenge about?

I'd like to rebuild Tono, the town of fairy tales, in a way that we
can live sustainably and self-sufficiently with nature and horses.

This is a project to renovate a 70 year-old house standing between the
mountains into a guest house all on our own. The house is located in
Ayaori region of Tono town where you can see genuine rural view.

The resources are all local wood carried by horses from the forest,
which we call "Bahan-moku." We will reproduce our traditional living
style in this guest house by using local soil for the walls and by
making traditional bath called "Goemon-buro".

The guest house will serve as a community where anyone who wishes to
live with horses, experience agriculture, feel nature of Tono and
support Ayaori region is warmly welcome. We really want you to feel
the recycling society to live with horses.

The construction process will be carried out as workshop by volunteers
recruited from all over the country. The process is open to public via
this homepage. Why don't you join us making your second hometown here
in Tono? We appreciate your warm support!
